The State Department of Agriculture provides a stipend of Rs. 700/- & Rs. 900/- per student for undergoing undergraduate and postgraduate programme respectively along with book grants, reimbursements, thesis grant etc. under the State Plan of Education & Training. This support has benefitted 237 students studying both within and outside the State during 2016-17.
In addition, 25% State share to the ICAR’s 75% funding for SASRD RAWE fee is being sponsored and the pro-rata fee for NEC quota at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat for State nominees.
Another need-based under the programme is the capacity building and knowledge, skill up-gradation of Officers & functionaries who are nominated to undergo short term courses at SAMETI Medziphema, Regional and National Institutes and in specialised training/workshops and exhibitions outside the country. During the year, the Department has nominated 33 Officers and functionaries to various training programmes organised at National and State level.
Objectives:
1. To strengthen human resource development by upgrading technical expertise.
2. To support the students/scholars undergoing graduate and post-graduate studies in Agriculture disciplines within and outside the state.
